These workshops are open to students from all Divisions and Colleges and are a fantastic chance to build your CV, meet new people and learn from our leading experts and facilitators.

Once you sign up, you will be sent the content that has already been released and be added the list to receive the weekly modules. Modules will be accessed via YouTube and each topic covered will be covered in a live masterclass with the facilitator to give you the opportunity to ask direct questions about the material and meet others going through the series.

Introduction to Design Thinking

Four Week Programme starting Tuesday 2 February 2021 16.00 17.30, Zoom

This series will teach you about the process of Design Thinking; you will learn how to use Design Thinking to enhance your skills in creativity, complex problem solving, and collaborating with others. All vital skills employers are looking for whatever career you want to get into, or if you want to found a venture. 

Following the first live session, you will be given access to the weekly modules and relevant learning resources and have access to weekly live Q&A sessions to further explore the content.

Format

This is a short, interactive and experiential course with minimal screen time. Live workshop event – students are introduced to the series and assigned working groups

Module 1: Introduction to Design Thinking. User journey / Scenario Mapping. Goals: 1.Understand the purpose of design thinking, the value it brings and how to use it. 2. Understand the bigger picture and the role ideas could play within a customer’s overall experience.

Module 2: Identifying an opportunity. Goal:  Creating problem / opportunity statements.

Module  3: Ideation – creating ideas. Goal: Understand how to generate new ideas and then develop, test and refine those ideas to deliver to a user.

Module 4: Evaluate Ideas. Goal: Understand how to use Design Thinking to evaluate ideas, identify and mitigate risks.
