The OXFO Elevate accelerator is making a pivotal difference to the success of Oxford-alumni and student-founded ventures.

By leveraging OXFO’s powerful networks, partnerships and talent, OXFO ventures have scaled fast, raised significant investment, and are helping to rebuild a better society and economy.

They’ve not only been commercially successful – having raised £40m in investment, created 150 jobs to rebuild our economy, and are valued at over £140m, but their talent and drive is helping us build a better world. Whether that’s helping combat the climate crisis, ensuring healthcare equity, or working to meet one of the other critical Sustainable Development Goals. OXFO ventures have created services to save the NHS time and money, helped patients access remote GP consultations – so vital during the pandemic - used the latest advancements in AI to help prevent illegal ivory poaching, and so much more.

“If you're a founder with an early-stage venture looking for exposure and access to hands-on mentors, industry experts, and networks of investors, I strongly encourage you to apply for the OXFO Elevate programme. The caliber is incredible - I've personally invested in some of these start-ups”

Biz Stone, Co-founder, Twitter, Chair of the OXFO Advisory Board

Over 6 months, the tailored programme provides a comprehensive venture building and leadership curriculum from some of the world’s leading experts including ex-entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, thought-leaders and academics, in order to run a high-growth business long term, and build and lead an effective, purposeful team. Startups receive access to Oxford’s incredible talent for paid internships and HR and legal support, hands-on support from global Resident Experts, mentors and founder coaches focusing on personal development & mental health, direct introductions to potential investors, funds, clients and partners, and opportunities to secure grant funding, along with £150k of partnership benefits from Google, AWS, Hubspot, Twilio and more.

The Oxford Foundry provides critical value to ventures at the point when they need it most. They have supported ventures to access global networks of mentors to understand key markets, made introductions to potential clients, and helped ventures understand how to improve their product offering. They have enabled ventures including iLoF and Oxford Cancer Analytics to have access to the best experts and market leading knowledge in order to build their use cases when selling into the pharmaceutical industry. This includes introductions to the former President of GSK Europe, the former Global Product Development Director for Science & Technology at Astra Zeneca, and the former Global Early Development Head of Experimental medicine amongst many others.

The Foundry has supported ventures to raise significant rounds of investment including Oxwash (£2.1m) and Infogrid (£13.4m); introducing them to reputable angel investors including Biz Stone (Co-founder, Twitter and Chair of the Oxford Foundry Advisory Board), Ben Legg (former Google, COO Europe) and Srin Madipalli (Exited entrepreneur to Airbnb), as well as some of the UK most recognised pre-seed/seed stage funds including Force Over Mass, TrueSight, Ascension.

The Foundry have also supported ventures including Oxwash, Ufonia and Deep Planet,to acquire new team members from Oxford University’s exceptional talent pool, taking on paid interns, full-time staff and core co-founding members - introduced by the Foundry - to help them to continue to grow and scale. OXFO Elevate, like the Foundry itself has a core commitment to supporting under-represented founders; Female founders and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic founders – in order to address the lack of investment and venture capital they receive.

These are just some of the ways the Foundry has directly supported the 32 ventures in the OXFO portfolio and the Foundry and OXFO ventures have been widely featured in the press including the Times, FT, BBC, and Forbes.

The deadline for applications for Cohort 4 is 12 February 2021 so don’t miss out.

“The OXFO Elevate programme has supported venture growth, given founders fundamental skills for running a business, and ultimately made ventures valuable in the eyes of key investors and influencers. If you want to take your venture to the next level, I advise you apply.”
